Aston Martin Unveils its First-Ever Luxury Home in Japan

Car brands, especially ones with racing pedigree or sportscars maker, are well-known to produce all kinds of merchandise. Items like diecast models, stationeries and apparels are commonplace in the automotive merch game, with die-hard fans willingly paying premiums for them. Sometimes, some daring car brands will come up with a ‘different’ kind of product that is both niche and ultra-expensive, even for their cult-like fans.

Joining alongside Porsche’s 911 Exhaust Soundbar in the weird-but-wonderful section is Aston Martin’s luxury house. Yes, you’ve read that right, Aston Martin now dabbles in the architecture industry.
In collaboration with Japanese design firm VIBROA, Aston Martin has built its first-ever luxury home in the Land of the Rising Sun. The four-storied residence is located in Minami-Aoyama, a fashionable, high-end neighbourhood that is part of the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan.
The collaboration between Aston Martin’s in-house design team and VIBROA sees the Briton marque in-charge of styling both interior and exterior of the house, as well as selecting suitable furniture.

Named ‘No. 001 Minami Aoyama,’ Aston Martin’s swanky private home comes with an auto gallery-style garage that fits two cars, home cinema, wine cellar as well as indoor gymnasium, to name a few. Its rooftop features an outdoor terrace that offers a stunning view of the gigantic metropolitan.

The building’s exterior facade is being designed to have clean lines and seamless boundaries, with the black, vertical strip structure dominating its facade. Said structure also provides coverage over the window that spans the whole width of the building. Sitting below said structure is the house’s garage that boasts enough room to fit two cars.

Said garage also doubles as an auto gallery, with its back wall being replaced by clear glass wall, enabling its residents to have a view at their vehicles from the comfort of their own home – literally.

The interior has plenty of dark wood elements that engulf both the house’s walls and ceilings to create a “calm and relaxing space”. Being in-charge of selecting furniture for the whole house, Aston Martin went for a minimalistic-yet-modern route in decorating the interior space, while taking inspiration from their car’s interior cabin design, too.

Prior to the No. 001 Minami Aoyama, Aston Martin has previously designed Sylvan Rock's ultra-luxury residential estate, sited on a 55-acre lot in New York’s Hudson Valley. The US$7.7 million-priced home comes with a massive 2,000-foot-long driveway and three-car garage –enough space to fit the whole Aston Martin current fleet.
Aston Martin’s No. 001 Minami Aoyama home is still under construction, as the firm expects to finish the build in Nov next year. No price was listed for this latest home, but it was revealed that it has already been bought beforehand.
