G-Power Tunes BMW X5 M ‘Typhoon S’ To 800 HP

Specialist BMW tuning house G-Power recently showed off its latest efforts involving the rather manic BMW X5 M super-SUV. The result of which, called the ‘Typhoon S’, sees said super-SUV transformed into a lowered, sportier-looking beast with the beefed up power and performance to match.
By any measure, the stock BMW X5 M is far from weak, offering up to 617 HP in ‘Competiton’ in fact. Of course, for the folks over at G-Power, that simply isn’t enough, hence their effort at tuning the super-SUV’s 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 further to the tune of 800 HP.

Said effort was made possible thanks to the switch to larger and improved turbocharger units. These have greater boost pressure than stock as they are primed with a larger compressor, turbine wheel, and housing.

The powertrain’s tuning efforts extends further to include a stainless steel exhaust system connected via a G Power downpipes. This was specially engineered by G-Power to boost the output, as well as reducing exhaust temperatures and exhaust gas back pressure. Finishing off the system off are a set of carbon-coated tailpipes too.

To enhance control over said boosted outputs, G-Power have also primed the Typhoon S with height-adjustable coil springs that lower the SUV by 40 MM and 45 MM at the front and rear respectively, thus drastically changing its stance too. Matching this are a set of 23-inch Hurricane RR wheels as well.

As for the exterior makeover, G-Power has primed the Typhoon S with its nine-piece carbon aerodynamic kit, which adds a new front spoiler, wheel arch extensions, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a rear spoiler.
