Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, and Bangkok-based electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure provider Evolt Technology Company Limited (Evolt) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborations in offering clean energy solutions across Southeast Asia, as well as explore other potential collaboration areas in renewable energy and green mobility solutions.

Gentari’s Chief Green Mobility Officer, Shah Yang Razalli commented, “with this MoU Gentari aims to establish an upper hand in Thailand through Evolt’s established market leadership and across key markets in Asia Pacific next. Furthermore, both entities would also explore regional charging co-development infrastructure beginning in Thailand, focusing on commercial locations such as shopping malls, hotels and offices, as well as high-traffic transit hubs. They would also look into other potential such as roaming services in charging infrastructure that will offer EV drivers a seamless charging experience across borders.”

Poonpat Loharjun, founder and CEO of Evolt Technology Co. Ltd. further added that, “The strategic partnership with Gentari helps Evolt to identify the right user locations both at leisure and at work, hence offering a seamless journey with sufficient coverage. With Gentari has successfully rolled out more than 250 charging points in India and Malaysia, this collaboration could see expansion of charging stations in Thailand next.

Since inception in June 2022, Gentari has made rapid progress in the green mobility network. As of 5 January 2023, Gentari through its affiliated entities, has deployed 151 charging points across 32 locations in Malaysia and a total of 132 charging points in India.

Gentari has set its eyes on becoming Asia Pacific’s preferred green mobility solutions provider, with the target of having 10% market share (25,000 charging points) across Asia Pacific by 2030. As for the mid-term target, Gentari aims to install 9,000 public charging points by 2026 in Malaysia and India.

At the moment Gentari is the first and only charging point operator awarded licenses by the Malaysian Energy Commission giving them the right to charge users by the kW consumed instead of time. Amongst their charging points nationwide, Gentari’s Sunway Serene facility houses Southeast Asia’s first 350kW DC charger while their Bangi Golf Resort facility has the one of a kind Kempower DC charging station.
