Negeri Sembilan Govt. Approves EVCB Planning Guidelines - 300 EVCB Planned By 2025
The Negeri Sembilan state government has released an approved Electric Vehicle Charging Bays (EVCB) Planning Guideline (GPP) in an effort to stimulate the electric vehicles (EVs) adoption in the state. This was announced by J. Arul Kumar, the State Executive Councillor for Local Government Development, Housing, and Transport.
"The state government had approved the EVCB GPP through the State Planning Committee Meeting and the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council Meeting," he said during a visit to the ChargeSini Seremban Gateway EV Charging Station today.
To date, 51 EV chargers in the state are in the permit application process with plans to create 300 more EVCB in support of the Federal Government's goal of reaching 10,000 EVCBs nationwide by 2025.
Furthermore, Arul also said that the state government encourages commercial area developers to include EVCBs in their development plans as that has been the trend of late amongst developers nationwide.
The GPP, which would come into effect immediately, aims to assist local authorities (PBT) and all relevant parties in planning, designing, and controlling development especially when it comes to preparing the development plans.
The GPP also takes into account operation and permit applications for the EVCBs in accordance with the Energy Commission’s (ST), Electric Vehicle Charging Systems (EVCS) Guideline which applies to both new and existing EVCBs.
Arul further noted that the planning and design of EVCBs would include location, number of bays, size, main electrical isolation switches, and automated sprinkler systems.
"Other concerns that the GPP would take into account would be the EVCBs proximity to fire hydrants and the availability of EV fire blankets while complying to the Fire and Rescue Department's Fire Safety Guidelines for EVCB Installation," he stated.
