Porsche has in recent years shown its care towards preserving its classic be it in terms of proper vehicle restoration service or rolling out up to date parts that can be retrofitted to these cars making it more relevant in this day and age.
One such roll out is with regards to Porsche's infotainment system for vintage and modern classic cars that comes with Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) and Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus).
Both this variant would come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for media playback, navigation and making phone calls. These infotainment units are already available for both sixth-generation 911 generation 997 (2005 to 2008), early model Boxster and Cayman generation 987 (2005 to 2008) and the first-generation Cayenne (2003 to 2008) all of which have just joined the Porsche Classic range status.
Furthermore, all these infotainment devices will be offered region specific through local Porsche dealerships. The above-mentioned Porsche models are already equipped with a second-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in 2 DIN format hence making it a perfect fit for the new replacement PCCM Plus. The PCCM Plus therefore integrates seamlessly into its surroundings including with the existing peripheral components such as amplifier, speakers and antenna. Moreover, even the existing navigation displays in the instrument cluster also continue to be supported.
The PCCM Plus which is priced at RM7,100 (Euro 1,520) would feature a 7-inch touchscreen with a state-of-the-art graphical display. It will be able to receive digital radio stations depending on the region the vehicle is in either via DAB+ or SiriusXM. Users will also be provided with the latest in on-board navigation in either 2D or 3D with media playback capable via USB stick, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
