Aston Martin DBX707 Introduced As New 2023 F1 Medical Car

As the new 2023 Formula 1 season kicks off this weekend in Bahrain, the Aston Martin DBX707 will make its debut as the sport's newest Medical Car. Dubbed as the fastest SUV when it first debuted, Aston Martin’s super-SUV joins alongside the existing Vantage Safety Car to helm their respective duties this season.

Replacing the previous DBX Medical Car, the new DBX707 Medical Car wears the same green-hued livery as its predecessor did. It’s also brimmed with a host of special features for its duties, namely fire extinguishers, medical bags, a defibrillator, as well as FIA-approved bucket seats with six-point harnesses.

Additionally, race marshals and medical staff on board both cars have access to the FIA marshaling system and the ability to communicate with race control. They will also be able to check out biometric data from the drivers and view live TV feed, both of which being critical in helping with early assessment of an accident.

Clearly, this is a significant upgrade from the previous DBX Medical Car – it boasts a peppier 707 PS (696 HP) and 900 NM Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo powertrain that grants 0-100 KM/H in 3.3 seconds plus a V-Max of 310 KM/H.

In contrast, the regular DBX it succeeds made do with ‘merely’ 550 PS (542 HP), 700 NM, plus slower 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 4.5 seconds and V-Max of 292 KM/H. Matching the heightened speed is the enhanced agility delivered in the DBX707 thanks to an uprated chassis with beefier suspension and brakes plus improved aerodynamics.

With Aston Martin revealing both its new DBX707 Medical Car and returning Vantage Safety Car, we now await the turn of Mercedes-AMG to reveal their counterparts for the 2023 F1 Season. The latter performance arm of Mercedes-Benz jointly helms the role of providing the Safety Car and Medical Car in F1 alongside Aston Martin.

For 2023, Mercedes-AMG is widely expected to continue with last season’s Mercedes AMG GT Black Series as the alternate Safety Car alongside the Vantage from Aston Martin. Their GT63S 4-Door Medical Car, on the other hand, could be replaced by the new and now electrified C63 S E-Performance estate, for 2023.
