Ford Unveils The All-New Electric 2023 Explorer For Europe

Ford has finally revealed its first all-new electric SUV vehicle featuring a sporty crossover that combines with an electrified powertrain.

Much of this particularly two-box SUV is covered with ramrod straight lines whereas the roof depicts a horizontal shape, unlike the slanted VW model.  Aside from that, the front pillars seem to have a floating effect to highlight the Explorer name including the dual-LED headlight.

Onboard, this 2023 Ford Explorer is now outfitted with a huge touchscreen and voluminous stowage. Mounted on a 30 degrees tilting screen, this 15-inch wide-portrait infotainment touchscreen combines well with Apple CarPlay, navigation maps, and also other widgets.

Director of Ford’s Team Edison division for electrified vehicle development, Ulrich Koesters further explained that the Explorer’s spacious cabin should put it on the radar of current Focus owners when they come to switch to an EV.

He remarked ‘’They will want to have the same or more functionality and a smaller footprint. And that’s what this vehicle actually does because it’s building a little bit taller but has better package efficiency so therefore you create more space for the occupants.

‘’You have more shoulder and knee room in the rear, more space around you in the front and good luggage size as well.”

Speaking on the new model, the General Manager of Ford Model e, Europe, Martin Sander, said: “Explorer is a trailblazer for a new breed of exciting Ford electric vehicles.

‘’Steeped in our American roots but built in Cologne for our customers in Europe, it is road trip-ready for the big adventures and fully loaded with everything our customers will need for their daily drives” he added.

There are three electric motor options, with either rear-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive in the flagship version. Meanwhile, two liquid-cooled battery packs will be offered, with 55kWh and 82kWh installed capacity.

Ford reckon it has no plans to offer the midsize electric crossover in the United States. It is one of two vehicles expected for Europe that leverages the Volkswagen Group’s all-electric “MEB” platform at Ford’s factory in Cologne, Germany.

Now that it’s out and about, this recently launched 2023 Ford Explorer has been made available in two versions such as Explorer and Explorer Premium expected to cost approximately around €45,000 (RM216K).
