Launched: 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic – From RM295,888
Face-lifted second-gen (H247) Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic subcompact luxury crossover SUV officially debuted earlier today.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) announced earlier today the availability of the refreshed second-generation (H247) 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4Matic. Said subcompact luxury crossover SUV arrives some five months after the equally revised base-spec GLA 200 variant was announced.
Also locally assembled (CKD) at MBM’s plant in Pekan, Pahang, the updated second-gen GLA 250 variant mirrors much of the changes seen in its grounded and booted V177-gen A250 4Matic sedan twin. It includes a switch to a new mild-hybrid (MHEV) powertrain and light cosmetic tweaks.
The new powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill augmented by a 48-volt belt-driven starter-generator (BSG) MHEV setup. The former brings 225 PS and 350 NM whilst the latter adds an additional 14 PS and 150 NM boost, albeit momentarily.
Drive now goes to all four wheels via Mercedes-Benz’s signature 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, which is connected to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) box. Altogether, MBM claims this refreshed GLA250 4Matic will complete the century sprint in just 6.8 secs.
Key aesthetic changes include revised front bumper, head- and taillights, plus new 19-inch rolling stock. Under the hood, this variant also switches over to a new MHEV powertrain whilst also gaining 4Matic AWD.
Mild exterior changes consist of a newly redesigned front bumper that mirrors the look of a full-fledged AMG performance model. Matching that is a pair of revised all-LED head- and taillights, the presence of a new rear diffuser element, plus larger 19-inch five-split-spoke wheels.
It’s also worth noting that this up-specced and peppier variant of the GLA crossover boasts cross-drilled sports brake rotors behind its new rolling stock detailed prior.
On board, the refreshed H247-gen GLA 250 4Matic sees its cabin revised with the deletion of the maligned capacitive touch control pad in the lower centre stack. It retains its dual 10.25-inch digital displays setup, both now running the latest MBUX infotainment suite too.
Typical of MBM’s AMG Line treatment, this variant also gains power-adjustable front sports seats with memory function wrapped in Artico faux leather and microfibre upholstery combination. Present too are brushed aluminium trims alloy pedals, black headlining, and lit-up side sills.
Notable standard kit includes roof rails, comfort keyless access and ignition, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging pad, single-zone automatic climate control, powered tailgate, as well as a six-speaker audio suite, amongst many.
On board, the revised cabin sees the capacitive touch control pad in the centre stack deleted. Dual 10.25-inch digital displays remain, but they now run the latest MBUX infotainment suite.
As for active driver assistance (ADAS), the revised GLA 250 4Matic offers AEB, BSM, door opening warning, as well as park assist, all of which coming on top of basics that includes seven airbags and stability control, amongst others.
Those keen to adopt this up-specced twin to the GLA 200 will need to fork out RM37,000 extra to meet its RM295,888 base asking price. Included in said figure is MBM’s usual 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage.
