Xpeng Mona M03 Previewed As Brand’s New AI-Powered EV Saloon

The all-new Xpeng M03 has been previewed as an AI-powered EV saloon under Xpeng’s new Mona sub-brand.
Xpeng has a new EV saloon under its garb, and it is known as the Xpeng Mona M03. Based on the Xpeng P5, this new EV saloon was previewed as the first model under the marque’s new tech-focused sub-brand Mona, which was established in collaboration with Chinese e-hailing giant Didi.
Stand for “Made of New AI," the Mona M03 is being marketed as Xpeng’s AI-powered EV model that emphasises on tech and intelligent driving. While Xpeng is responsible for all the supply chains and manufacturing of the Mona M03, Didi is directly involved in the development and design of the car, while at the same time assisting Xpeng in the distribution and sales aspects.
Back to the Mona M03, this EV saloon is based on the existing Xpeng P5, where it underpins Xpeng’s Fuyao architecture, while being juiced by BYD’s proprietary ‘Blade’ LFP battery pack that grants it up to 500 KM of CLTC range.

Xpeng P5 EV saloon
As of now, neither Xpeng nor Didi have yet to reveal the powertrain specs of the Mona M03, although we can expect it to be somewhat similar to the P5. However, we did know that the M03 would have advanced self-driving capabilities courtesy of Xpeng’s navigation-guided pilot (XNGP) system.

In terms of design, the Mona M03 looks like a rather conventional saloon, featuring some EV-specific design such as the flushed door handles, a sleek roofline, and a clean front bumper design with a lower air opening for battery and motor cooling. Helping the Mona M03 stand out against the seas of Chinese EV saloons are its quirky lighting units, with both the headlights and taillights featuring the same Y-shaped design.
Unfortunately, Xpeng has yet to reveal any interior bits of the new Mona M03, although we can expect them to be heavy with tech while retaining that typical Chinese EV minimalist cabin design.

The all-new Xpeng Mona M03 is slated to make its official global debut later in Q3 this year, where it is poised to go on sale for less than CNY 200,000 (RM130,000 approx.). This makes the M03 one of the most affordable models in Xpeng’s lineup, with the automaker targeting the model to be used for fleet operations like Didi’s e-hailing services.
