Lotus Cars Malaysia has opened the order books for the Lotus Emeya hyper EV GT, priced from RM575,000 onwards.

Following the introduction of the new baseline variant of the Eletre EV SUV, Lotus Cars Malaysia is opening the order books for its latest model, the Lotus Emeya. This all-electric hyper GT will arrive in two variants for our market, namely the Emeya S and the top-spec Emeya R, with prices slated to begin from RM575,000 onwards.

The arrival of the Emeya also makes Malaysia one of the first few markets in the ASEAN market to get the EV hyper GT officially, with the first one being Thailand, which welcomed the car earlier in March this year.

The Malaysian market will get two variants of the Emeya EV GT, namely the 603 HP-rated Emeya S and the top-spec, 905 HP-rated Emeya R.

Moving on to the car itself, the Emeya is essentially a four-door GT version of the Eletre EV SUV, as it features the same battery and powertrain setup, not to mention the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) both models underpin. Starting with the Emeya S, this baseline variant gets a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup rated at 603 HP (450 kW) and 710 NM, allowing a fast century sprint time of 4.15 seconds and a capped V-Max of 205 KM/H.

Meanwhile, the top-spec Emeya R gets a peppier dual-motor AWD setup with a whopping total system output of 905 HP (675 kW) and 985 NM. This enables a sub-3-second century sprint time of 2.78 seconds for the EV GT, while its top speed has been increased marginally to 256 KM/H.

Regardless of variants, the Malaysian-spec Emeya will be juiced by the same 102-kWh NMC battery pack.

Battery-wise, we can expect the Malaysian-bound Emeya to get the same 102-kWh NMC unit used on other markets that is good for a maximum WLTP range between 490 KM and 600 KM, depending on the variant. As for charging, the Emeya can support DCFC at up to 350 kW, which means a 10-80% charge can be completed in just 18 minutes, while its 22 kW AC charging allows the car to be fully charged in about 8.5 hours.

Visually, the Emeya sports some similar design cues derived from its tall-riding SUV twin, notably its front face that features the dual-stack LED matrix headlights. On top of that, the Emeya also comes with a host of active aero parts, including its rear diffuser and dual-layer rear spoiler, all of which combine to generate up to 215 KG of net downforce.

The Emeya's full-time AWD setup allows the car to have faster cornering performance, plus the ability to do some light off-roadings, too.

The similarities between both models don’t end there, as the Emeya also comes with the same electronic air suspension system used on the Eletre, plus Lotus’ proprietary ICC intelligent torque distribution system. This trick system allows its full-time AWD setup to send power to each of the four wheels variably, promising better and faster cornering performance.

On board, the Emeya comes with a host of tech equipment and full ADAS capabilities. Here, you can expect to find the expansive 55-inch head-up display (HUD) with projected Augmented Reality (AR) functionality, standard ADAS functions like obstacle warnings, lane departure, forward collision alerts, and blind-spot monitoring, as well as some comfort amenities like the sporty two seats wrapped in sustainably-sourced materials, a large central infotainment display, and many more.

With prices starting at RM575,000, the all-new Lotus Emeya is now officially available for booking, which can be made at any of Lotus Cars Malaysia’s outlets for a RM5,000 booking fee.

While still to be officially launched, the Emeya will be available for an exclusive preview at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from July 30 to August 4, 2024. Prospective customers are invited to secure their private viewing session, which will be held daily from 10 AM to 10 PM by registering their interest at Lotus Cars Malaysia’s official website.
