Geely Geome Xingyuan Unveiled in China – Future Proton e.MAS EV Hatch?

Geely has unveiled the official images of the new Geome Xingyuan EV hatchback ahead of its market entry.
Chinese automotive giant Geely revealed the official images of its upcoming EV hatch in China last week, cordially known as the Geely Geome Xingyuan. This compact EV hatch is slated to enter the Great Wall market later this year, where it will be a key rival to several Chinese EV hatches such as the BYD Dolphin and the MG4.
For those who aren’t familiar, the Geome name was essentially the continuation of Geely’s previous EV sub-brand known as Geometry. Due to its poor sales figure, the auto conglomerate decided to absorb Geometry and rebrand it into a product series directly under the Geely branding.

Back to the new EV, official images of the Geome Xingyuan reveal a pretty stylish EV hatch, featuring a rounded five-door hatchback body style. Up front, the Xingyuan sports a pair of teardrop-shaped LED headlights with a clean front grille design, with the only notable opening being the lower apron and what appears to be a pair of side vents.

From the side, you’ll notice some notable EV design features, such as the flushed door handles, the sleek hatchback roofline, as well as the enclosed four-spoke wheels—all contributing to better aerodynamic performance.

The teardrop design language continues at the rear part, as the Xingyuan also comes with similarly-designed LED taillights, plus Geome letterings on the tailgate. You also notice that the Geome Xingyuan sports some plastic underbody cladding just like your typical EV SUVs out there.
In terms of dimensions, the Geome Xingyuan measures 4,135 MM long, 1,805 MM wide, 1,570 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,650 MM, making it 10 MM longer and 35 MM wider than the BYD Dolphin EV hatch.

On board, the Geome Xingyuan gets a pretty familiar cabin design that is laden with tech amenities and equipment. Primed here include the illuminated city silhouette pattern on the front dash and the front door cards, a floating central infotainment screen powered by Geely’s proprietary Flyme Auto OS, a small digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pads, and many more.

As for its powertrain specs, CarNewsChina reports that the Geome Xingyuan will get two motor specs, with the baseline spec rated at 78 HP (58 kW) and boasting a V-Max of 125 KM/H. Meanwhile, the top-spec model will get a peppier motor setup rated at 114 HP (85 kW) that allows the car for a higher V-Max of 135 KM/H.
Battery-wise, the baseline Xingyuan variant gets a smaller 30.12-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery pack that supplies the car with up to 310 KM of CLTC range. Naturally, the top-spec variant will house a bigger 40.16-kWh LFP unit also from CATL, promising a better CLTC range of 410 KM.

Set to enter the Chinese market later this year, the upcoming Geely Geome Xingyuan EV hatch is slated to be priced at around the CNY 80,000 (RM) region, thus making it one of the most affordable EV hatches in the Great Wall market.
As of now, Geely has yet to give any confirmations regarding the availability of the Xingyuan EV hatch in other international markets. However, there is a strong rumour suggesting that this Geely-badged hatch could be the second model to be launched under the Proton e.MAS banner, following the footsteps of its bigger sibling, the Geely Galaxy E5 (Proton e.MAs 7).
