Dongfeng Nammi 06 Unveiled as Brand’s New Compact EV Crossover

The all-new Dongfeng Nammi 06 breaks cover in China as the brand's new compact EV crossover, featuring up to 184 PS.
Chinese auto manufacturer Dongfeng has got a new EV model under its arms, and it is called the Dongfeng Nammi 06. Positioned as the brand’s new compact EV crossover, the Nammi 06 is positioned above the Nammi 01 hatch (also known as the Dongfeng Box in Malaysia), which was the first model to be launched under the Nammi sub-brand.
Compared to its hatchback sibling, the Nammi 06 measures slightly bigger at 4,306 MM long, 1,868 MM wide, 1,645 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,715 MM. What also sets the 06 apart from the 01 is in its overall design, where the compact crossover adopts a more angular design language, featuring sharp lines and polygonal design elements.

Key design highlights include the sharp front face featuring L-shaped LED headlights and a grill-less front bumper that makes the 06 look painstakingly similar to the Kia EV3, a boxy SUV crossover silhouette with thick C-pillars and plastic underbody claddings, multi-spoked wheels finished in a two-toned hue, and slim LED taillights with rugged rear bumper accents.

As of now, Dongfeng has yet to reveal any interior pictures of the new Nammi 06, but we can expect it to be tech-laden and minimalistic just like the one primed on the Nammi 01 hatchback.

Now, to the important bits. According to CarNewsChina, official homologation filings indicate that the Nammi 06 will be powered by a single electric motor rated at 181 HP (135 kW), which is good enough for up to 150 KM/H of V-max. Unfortunately, no battery details were shared by the automaker as of now, but given its peppier motor setup and larger facade, perhaps the 06 would benefit from a larger battery pack compared to those primed on the 01.
Among other things confirmed by the automaker is that we can expect the Nammi 06 to feature a pretty advanced level of autonomous driving, thanks to Dongfeng’s partnership with renowned drone maker DJI. Again, details are still blurry at this stage, but we’re nonetheless curious to see what sort of advanced driving technologies this partnership offers.

Last but not least, CarNewsChina also reported that the new Dongfeng Nammi 06 will be making its first public appearance sometime later in Q2 this year, possibly at the upcoming 2025 Shanghai Motor Show in April. With prices expected to circulate around the CNY 100,000 (RM60,000) mark, the new Nammi 06 would be a more affordable alternative to things like the BYD Atto 2 (BYD Yuan Up), smart #1, Volvo EX30, and even its aforementioned Korean lookalike, the Kia EV3.
