Toyota GR86 Cup Car On Sale In Malaysia – 30 Units Only, RM208,315 Each

The return of Japan's Super GT in Malaysia this year will also see the new GR86 Cup Malaysia Series hold its season-opening round as a support event.
In case you missed it, Japan’s Super GT racing series is returning to Malaysia this year, and it will feature the inaugural running of the GR86 Cup Malaysia series as an on-track support event.
In other words, Malaysia finally sees its very own GR86 Cup competition series established this year. Said one-make racing series has proven to be a popular entry-level racing event worldwide, even attracting entries by famous celebrities and figures in some markets.

Ahead of which, series organisers Haro Sports and Entertainment have begun a limited 30-unit sale of the Toyota GR86 Cup Car priced at RM208,315 apiece. (Note: Japan market base version pictured)
Ahead of which, series organisers Haro Sports and Entertainment Sdn Bhd – the same firm promoting Super GT Malaysia – has begun sale of the Toyota GR86 Cup Car locally. Aptly, given the limited quantities, this sale primarily caters to the series’ entrants.
In fact, just 30 units of the Toyota GR86 Cup Car will be offered by Haro Sports and Entertainment Sdn Bhd solely for this purpose, and on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis too. Each unit is priced at RM208,315 with both sales tax and Motorsports AP costs included.
For reference, the regular GR86 road car model offered officially by UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is priced from RM295,000 for the 6MT version, and from RM305,000 for the 6AT version.

2024MY Toyota GR86 officially imported by UMW Toyota Motor pictured. As a refresher, it costs RM295,000 (6MT) and RM305,000 (6AT).
Fully imported (CBU) from Japan, all GR86 Cup Car units offered by Haro Sports and Entertainment comply with technical regulations set under the 2025 MTCC TP2 (formerly MCS SP1) category. Each car also tips the scale at just roughly 1,290 KG with driver.
As a result, each GR86 Cup Car is also deemed not street legal, therefore their use on public roads is strictly forbidden.

Key upgrades added into each GR86 Cup Car includes a roll cage, fire suppression system, racing bucket seat and harness, KW Racing shocks, TRD suspension bushings, Raxer alloy wheels, Advics race brakes, as well as a Fujitsubo performance full system exhaust.
Despite costing less that the actual road car version, the GR86 Cup Car comes with a slew of racing upgrades. Some are mandatory safety additions like the JAF-certified competition roll cage, FIA-approved Bride ZETA series bucket seat with 6-point HANS-compatible harness, and fire-suppression system.
Under the hood, the 2.4-litre ‘Boxer’ or flat 4-cyl direct-injected powerplant gains re-optimised electronic throttle settings plus a Fujitsubo full performance exhaust system to deliver 228 HP @ 7,000 RPM and 250 NM @ 3,700 RPM.

Other Cup Car upgrades include a re-tuned electronic throttle for the 2.4-litre 'boxer' heart, as well as upgraded Cusco clutch and added transmission cooler system for the 6-speed manual box. (Note: stock roadcar's engine and transmission pictured)
The stock rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup and 6-speed manual transmission and Torsen limited-slip diff (LSD) are all retained. Instead, the transmission does gain an upgraded Cusco racing clutch, as well as an added transmission cooler system.
As for the chassis, the GR86 Cup Car get a re-tuned electric power steering module, KW Racing shocks, TRD suspension bushes, as well as Advics monobloc four-piston (front) and dual-piston (rear) brake calipers grabbing 345 x 30 MM (front) and 330 x 26 MM (rear) brake rotors.
Over to rolling stock, each GR86 Cup Car is primed with lightweight and durable 8JJ x 17-inch Raxer RP10X forged alloy wheels shod in grippy 225/45R17-profile Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tyres.

The GR86 Cup Malaysia series will see three rounds organised and held by Haro Sports and Entertainment this year at Petronas SIC.
As for the GR86 Cup Malaysia series itself, it’s opening round takes place as mentioned during Super GT Malaysia from June 26 to June 28 at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit (SIC). It will see two 10-lap races held – one on Saturday, followed by another on Sunday.
After that, Round 2 will be held later this year in conjunction with the Malaysia Championship Series 300KM race. Following which comes a special 86-lap race for its Round 3 grand finale. Both will also take place at Petronas SIC.
