Proton Saga Teams Up With Egyptian Action Star For TVC
The Proton Saga is enjoying a renewed bout of popularity in one of its key overseas export markets - Egypt.

In case you weren’t aware, the Proton Saga in left-hand-drive (LHD) form is enjoying a renewed bout of popularity in one of its key overseas markets – Egypt.
In fact, the Malaysian automaker’s Egyptian partners, Ezz Elarab (Proton Cars Egypt) just released a new TV commercial for the sedan that’s also locally assembled (CKD) there. Featured in which too is one of Egypt’s biggest action film stars Ahmed El Sakka.
The TVC (featured above) contains both action and comedy scenes, and it sees 52-year-old Ahmed and the Proton Saga intervene and ‘rescue’ folks across several hilarious situations. All of which were aimed to somewhat underscore just how ‘brave’ the Proton Saga is.
Certainly, the combination of Ahmed, and one of Egypt’s most affordable new cars, ought to bolster the Saga’s presence and popularity further in said market. For reference, the Proton Saga retails from EGP629,900 (approx. RM53,983) onwards in Egypt.

LHD Proton Saga shown locally late last year just before KD parts exports from Malaysia to Egypt began.

As for specs, the Egyptian-built LHD Saga model is identical to what Proton offers Malaysian buyers. Under the hood, it adopts the same 1.3-litre VVT 4-cyl petrol mill serving up 95 PS and 120 NM to the front wheels via 4-speed automatic box.
As for kit, the made-in-Egypt Saga boasts a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, four-speaker audio setup, ABS with EBD and BA, dual airbags, both stability (ESC) and traction control (TCS) systems, Hill-Hold Assist (HHA), and a reverse camera, amongst many.
Unique to the made-in-Egypt Proton Saga model is the 'Marine Blue' exterior paintjob option pictured here.

We’ll even add that the Egyptian-made Proton Saga is marketed with a rather unique ‘Marine Blue’ exterior paintjob option as well.
Closer to home, a heavily revised ‘new’ iteration of the Proton Saga is presently in development to succeed the now outgoing current third-gen model. This new successor is expected to debut sometime later this year.
