Proton X50 Voice Recognition Suite Now Supports Bahasa Malaysia
The face-lifted 2025 Proton X50 launched last week gained plenty of new additions inside and out, and this includes a slew of enhanced tech too.

Besides new looks, new powertrain, a slew of new hardware, not forgetting it’s very own hit song by a local pop group, the face-lifted 2025 Proton X50 compact crossover SUV that launched last week also came brimmed with a slew of enhanced new tech too.
Key amongst which is the infotainment’s operating system, plus a slew of supporting software for which. Earlier today, Proton officially detailed one of the latter, specifically the infotainment system’s trick new voice recognition system and a key new ability.
Besides Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the powerful new 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit also boasts a trick new voice recognition software that supports Bahasa Malaysia!

Specifically, the tech now proudly boasts the ability of recognising the Bahasa Malaysia (BM) language, and not in just in a formal way. Following a seven-month development led by Proton tech subsidiary ACO Tech, the suite recognises local dialects too.
Between Oct 2024 and May 2025, both the automaker and ACO Tech had jointly collected over 4,000 command variations in Bahasa Malaysia, plus a further 4,000 English command variations.
Called 'Aisyah', the suite was developed jointly by Proton and ACO Tech, and saw over 4,000 command variations in BM collected over a seven-month development period.

From which, over 200 samples of standard BM phrases were collected with an even split between male and female speakers to ensure accuracy across a wide range of phrases. In turn, this enables the system to better adapt with natural language variations, with examples like “buka tingkap” and “bukakan tingkap,” for instance.
Abilities aside, Proton also highlighted another key effort with this tech, specifically in its name. For which, the automaker ‘affectionately’ christened its first ever BM voice recognition system as ‘Aisyah’ – certainly a welcoming choice instead of an uninspiring, tech-driven acronym as how other rivalling systems are dubbed.
Critically, Proton promises to better 'Aisyah' over time through planned OTA software updates too.

Moreover, this is certainly lightyears ahead of what the first Geely-based Proton model – the X70 – brought when it first debuted backed in 2018. At the time, that early version of the equally popular C-SUV saw its GKUI-based infotainment gain a built-in voice recognition suite too, albeit one that only worked with the English language only.
And just like any other software, the new Proton ‘Aisyah’ voice command software promises to get better over time thanks to planned over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The new Bahasa Malaysia voice command software is one of several new 'talents' hidden in the face-lifted 2025 Proton X50 that's now present in showrooms nationwide.

“While currently optimised for female voices, the team is developing male voice recognition and exploring the integration of other languages and dialects for future iterations,” adds the automaker via the release mentioned.
Surely, this is one feature we reckon many prospecting buyers viewing the new face-lifted 2025 Proton X50 ought to test-out first hand at showrooms.
