XPENG X9 EREV Revealed – 450 KM EV Range, Q4 Launch

Xpeng’s flagship MPV, the X9, is currently only available as a pure battery electric vehicle (BEV), but that could soon change. The Chinese brand’s upcoming extended range electric vehicle (EREV) version was recently revealed through China’s MIIT filings, hinting at a potentially significant addition to its line-up.
The X9 EREV will feature the brand’s Kunpeng Super Range Extender system, pairing a 1.5 Turbocharged engine producing 110 kW (148 HP) with LFP batteries from CALB-Tech.

While battery capacity and full performance figures remain under wraps, the “450” marking spotted on test vehicles strongly suggests a pure electric range of around 450 KM before the petrol generator kicks in. The official launch in China is slated for Q4 this year.
In terms of size, the X9 EREV measures 5,316 MM long with a 3,160 MM wheelbase, 1,988 MM wide and 1,785 MM tall. This makes it marginally longer than the BEV version, which measures 5,293 MM in length, though width, height, and wheelbase remain unchanged. Curb Weight stands at 2,750 KG.

Xpeng says over 1,000 units of the EREV prototypes have been tested globally, covering 20 countries and 330 cities for over more than 20 Million KM in a span of 800 days.
Currently, there is still no indicative price revealed for the EREV variant. However, the 2025 Xpeng X9 BEV in China is priced from RMB359,800 (RM233,700) and is offered in four trims with CLTC ranges between 650 KM and 740 KM, available in both FWD and AWD layouts.

Power comes from either a 235 kW (315 HP) Front Motor in FWD guise or an additional 135 kW (181 HP) Rear Motor for AWD models, paired with 94.8 kWh or 105 kWh batteries.
In Malaysia, the X9 was officially launched earlier this year and is offered in three variants - the Standard Range 2WD Pro (RM269,888), Long Range 2WD Pro (RM287,888) and range-topping Long Range 2WD Pro Plus (RM299,888). The facelifted version is expected to arrive later this year.

With the Malaysian government yet to confirm any extension of EV tax exemptions and no clear long-term CKD strategy in place, brands may be forced to pivot towards Hybrids and EREVs to maintain market competitiveness in 2026.
If that happens, there’s a real chance the Xpeng X9 EREV could make its way to Malaysian showrooms next year. After all, Xpeng has a track record of developing RHD versions alongside their LHD counterparts, as seen with the G6 and current X9 BEV.
