BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring Makes European Debut at IAA Mobility 2025

The new BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring PHEV wagon makes its European debut at the Munich Motor Show 2025.
The IAA Mobility 2025 show, also known as the Munich Motor Show 2025, is set to welcome several new concepts and models from renowned automakers not only from Europe but also around the world. One of which is renowned NEV giant BYD, which will debut its new BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring at the show later this month.
Shown for the first time at this year’s Auto Shanghai motor show, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring is essentially a wagon version of the popular Seal 6 DM-i midsize saloon, featuring BYD’s fifth-gen DM-i plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain setup.

Said system comprises a 1.5-litre 4-cyl petrol engine that is mated to an electric motor with an output of up to 215 hp (160 kW) and 260 Nm, allowing a decent century sprint finish of 7.7 seconds for the estate. Juice is provided by either 10.08 kWh or 18.71 kWh LFP battery packs, with the latter offering up to 150 km of EV-only range, plus a comprehensive travel range of up to 2,000 km, BYD claims.
And just like some of their all-electric cousins, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring also comes with BYD’s proprietary DiSus-C adaptive damper system for better ride comfort and handling performance. Semi-autonomous driving capabilities, on the other hand, are provided by the BYD God’s Eye C ADAS suite.

In terms of design, the PHEV estate follows the same “Marine Aesthetics” design language seen on its saloon twin, featuring a front face with sleek LED headlights, plus a sporty front bumper with wide air intakes and side vents.

Naturally, in any wagon estate, the similarities stop once we get beyond the B-pillars, where the Seal 6 DM-i Touring gets a flat, long-roofed wagon bodystyle with blackened pillars and built-in roof rails. That said, the wagon still gets the same full-width LED taillights as its saloon twin, while its upright rear windscreen now houses a single windscreen wiper.
Dimension-wise, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring spans 4,850 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,505 mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, making it slightly longer than the sedan version.

Onboard amenities for the Seal 6 DM-i Touring are also quite similar to its sedan twin, with key highlights including a 12.8-inch central infotainment screen, an 8.8-inch digital metre cluster, up to eight speakers, a three-spoke steering wheel with a column-mounted shifter, a panoramic sunroof, a built-in refrigerator, and many more.

That said, the wagon does benefit from being a more practical choice, with its standard boot space measuring 670 litres and can be expanded to 1,535 litres with the rear seats folded.

European prices for the all-new BYD Seal 6 DM-i Touring are about to be announced soon, with deliveries slated to commence towards the end of the year. Once it arrives, this China-badged wagon will face stiff competition against popular European estates, including the BMW 3 Series Touring, the VW Passat Estate, the new Audi A6 Avant, and many more.
