The Selangor government is expected to decide as early as next week on the fate of 19 residents and landowners affected by the West Coast Expressway (WCE) project in Kampung Jawa, Klang.
Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said a special meeting between the state government, WCE representatives, and the relevant ministries will be held on Nov 3 to review the project’s latest progress and resolve several pending issues, particularly involving those who have yet to relocate.

He said the meeting would finalise matters that have long caused uncertainty for the affected residents. “After the meeting, we expect to have a clear decision, as many of the technical concerns and misunderstandings have been identified and are now being resolved,” Amirudin said after officiating the Selangor Heritage Food Festival 2025, as reported by Bernama.
According to him, most of the confusion among residents stemmed from technical issues and communication gaps between various parties involved in the project. He assured that these matters are now being addressed to ensure a fair outcome for all sides.

Amirudin also stressed that the state government remains committed to seeing the WCE project through to completion, without compromising the rights and welfare of those affected.
“We are not ignoring the residents’ concerns. Every step we take must be comprehensive and responsible. We have discussed the matter with WCE and relevant ministries to ensure that justice is served,” he said.
The Kampung Jawa stretch of the expressway recently gained attention after it was reported that 19 residents refused to vacate their land, despite most of the acquisition process having been completed.
The WCE, which links Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak, is one of the major infrastructure projects under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1). It aims to improve transport and logistics connectivity along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
However, several sections of the project in Selangor have faced delays due to land acquisition and technical issues, prompting complaints from residents in the affected areas.
