Once again, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) can never contain leaks from Chinese manufacturers and their latest metal. This week, we get an early look at the refreshed 2026 Denza D9 luxury EV MPV offering.

There are minor styling tweaks to note, and the most obvious of which with the exterior is the grille – it now mirrors its petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sibling. There will also be a version with a different design for which, presumably for a ‘higher-end’ guise.

Visual changes are minor, but there's at least three different grille designs now. Otherwise, things appear largely unchanged from the current version.

Beyond which, and the presence of a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor that’s specific for the Chinese market model, the 2026MY Denza D9 pictured from leaked MIIT documents appears largely the same and unchanged from the version we are familiar with.

Of course, the real changes lie underneath the skin of this luxo-MPV. That because reputable Chinese sources online report that BYD-owned Denza have elected to endow this updated model with new and significantly peppier e-motors.

In the base single-motor, front-wheel-drive (FWD) guise, it now reportedly churns out 462 PS, whereas the higher-end all-wheel-drive (AWD) guise now reportedly pushes out a whopping 557 PS thanks to an uprated 95 PS rear e-motor.

For reference, the current Denza D9 for Malaysia puts out roughly 310 PS (Advanced FWD) and 370 PS (Premium AWD). Need a better grasp? The updated 2026MY single-motor FWD guise now has more power than the outgoing dual-motor AWD variant.

Apart from the increased power outputs, no other technical details were released. An enlarged battery pack would’ve sweetened the deal, but this seems unlikely considering the current model’s Blade LFP pack is already sizeable at 103.6 kWh.

Should that be case, then expect changes to range figures too. Again, for reference, the Denza D9 marketed locally present sees its battery pack yield WLTP-rated 480 KM range in Premium AWD guise.

Nevertheless, with the filings now leaked, expect the updated 2026 Denza D9 to be released in China soon enough, with full details in tow. You can get to grips with the Denza D9 in our preview, launch and first drive reports by clicking here, here and here.
