Leaked: Xpeng G6 Set For Launch End Of Aug From RM175,000?

The Xpeng G6 premium EV crossover is set to arrive soon through Bermaz Auto (BAuto) and, based on a prior leak, two variants are expected.
It seems that the folks over at BAuto (Bermaz Auto) and its affiliates can’t ever keep a lid on things, especially in regards to its efforts at introducing its latest addition to its brands portfolio – Xpeng. Earlier today, tentative prices for said brand’s upcoming G6 premium EV crossover model has leaked online.
The leak stems from the ever bustling Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owners Club (MYEVOC) Facebook group, specifically through a post by user named Xen Xen. The user had shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat sent by presumably a Bermaz Xpeng sales consultant.

Said chat was likely the result of the user in question having registered their interest early online – BAuto had already opened up which online not too long ago. Through which, we now have tentative price figures for the Xpeng G6 ahead of its launch, albeit ‘unofficial’ ones.
As reported prior – also from a leak – the Xpeng G6 is set to arrive locally in two variants – 435 Standard and 570 Long Range. Based on this latest leak, they’re set to be tentatively priced from RM175,000 and RM195,000 onwards respectively. The same screenshot also indicates an official launch is planned sometime towards the end of this month (Aug).

At the alleged leaked price figures, the Xpeng G6 looks set to battle it out against things like the Tesla Model Y and smart #3.
Said prices tentatively puts the Xpeng G6 as a much more affordable alternative against the likes of the Tesla Model Y. Said Sino-built American-branded EV offering officially offered in our market currently sees its prices start from RM191,000 in base RWD guise with 455 KM of claimed range, and from RM238,000 in Long Range AWD guise boasting a claimed 533 KM range.
Said prices also tentatively puts the G6 as a direct competitor to the recently launched smart #3 – also positioned as a ‘premium’ EV crossover offering. The latter Geely-owned brand sees its base-spec Pro RWD variant with a claimed 325 KM range figure tagged at RM175,000, whilst its longer-ranged Premium RWD guise with a touted 455 KM range commands RM215,000.

A recent local sighting of the Xpeng G6. This is perhaps the strongest signal yet of its launch being imminent. (Source: Facebook)
Again, we’ll remind you that these leaked tentative price figures remain unconfirmed for now, and BAuto have yet to issue any official details yet. We’ll have more details once the firm releases them which, given the alluded timeline, should be very soon.
Nevertheless, these are exciting indications indeed, but are the touted figures tickling your fancy towards this left-field Chinese EV fighter. As usual, share your take in the comments below, as well as our social media pages…
