Summary

The X247 Mercedes-Benz GLB is the first generation of GLB introduced in Malaysia in September 2020. A total of three variants were introduced, namely the GLB 200 Progressive Line, GLB 250 AMG Line, and the AMG GLB 35 4Matic.  It is priced at RM 269,118, RM 318,009 and RM 363,137, respectively.


The GLB 200 Progressive Line and GLB 250 AMG Line are 5+2 seaters, while the AMG GLB 35 4Matic is a 5-seater Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The prices mentioned are the on-the-road price, excluding insurance and inclusive of the sales tax exemption. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC-Class SUV in size. All GLB come with a four-year unlimited mileage warranty.



Interior

Dashboard

The dashboard design is elegant and modern, just like most of the other Mercedes-Benz cars. The circular air vents and the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) screen were clearly displayed. It also gets the artico leather/dinamica microfibre upholstery with some carbon-structure trim.



Instrument Cluster

Features the MBUX system’s dual 10.25-inch screen. One 10.25-inch screen is for the instrument cluster, which displays all the key vehicle information.


Seats

The GLB 250 AMG Line is equipped with electrically adjustable front sport seats with memory and 4-way lumbar support functions, second-row armrest, and folding rear seat backrests.



Space

Any six-footers can comfortably fit in the front and second row of the GLB, with generous headroom, legroom, and shoulder room. As for its third row, like most of the +2, it will be comfortable for young children and smaller size Asian adults.



Storage Space

The GLB 250 AMG Line has a decent size glove compartment that can easily fit in a couple of tablets and smaller laptops with its adapters. The front armrest compartment is deep enough to keep a small size handbag. There are also smaller platforms for your devices, smart tag, touch and go cards, or even your door entry cards.

Steering Functions

The GLB 250 AMG Line’s multifunction steering wheel is wrapped with Nappa leather. It has buttons and switches for adjusting the multimedia player’s volume, return, home, voice activation, phone call, cruise control settings, and also two touch control buttons.

Cup Holders

There are a total of four cup holders and bottle holders in the GLB 250 AMG Line. 2 cupholders located near both the front and second-row armrests, while the bottle holders are located at each of the door’s panels.

Charging Ports

There are a total of 5 USB C ports and 1 USB port to charge your devices. One USB C port located right below the centre console which is connected to the multimedia system, 2 USB C ports for the second-row occupants located at the rear air vents, and 2 more for the third-row occupants, by the side panels. The one and only USB port is located inside the armrest compartment.



Build Quality

Like all the Mercedes-Benz, it has a luxurious and comfortable cabin. Good quality materials were used all around the GLB.

All three GLBs measure in at a length of 4,634 mm, width of 1,834 mm, height of 1,663 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,829 mm. It weighs around 1,705 kg. It has 52 litres of fuel tank capacity.



Front View

The front of the GLB 250 AMG Line looks stylish and elegant. It has rectangular-shaped LED headlamps and a single slat grille, accompanied by a more aggressive-looking front bumper, compared to the GLB 200 Progressive Line.



Rear View

The rear design of the GLB 250 AMG Line features the dual exhaust finishers and rear diffuser, coupled with the LED tail lamps to give a sporty and rugged look.


Headlamps

Both the GLB 200 Progressive Line and GLB 250 AMG Line come with LED high-performance rectangular-shaped headlamps with daytime running lights.



Tail Lamps

The GLB 250 AMG Line tail lamps are LED units, the design is slim and modern when lighted up.



Side Mirror

Its side mirrors are electrically folded and adjusted, with a turn indicator and blind-spot warning indicator for both sides, as well as an auto-dimming function for the driver side.


Wheels

The GLB 250 AMG Line is running on the 19-inch AMG five-twin-spokes wheels and 235/50R19 tyres.

Infotainment

Features the MBUX system that consists of two 10.25-inch displays that can be controlled by the steering wheel controls, touchpad near the front occupants’ cupholders, voice recognition, or even with the central touchscreen.

Powering the GLB 250 AMG Line is the 2-litre 16-valve DOHC direct fuel injection, inline 4 turbocharged petrol engine with variable valve timing. The mill churns out 221 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm.

Transmission

The GLB 250 AMG Line is mated with the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic (wet) transmission.

Drivetrain

The GLB 250 AMG Line is equipped with the brand’s 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

The GLB 250 AMG Line can sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and the top speed is rated at 236 km/h.
