Proton Iriz

The Proton Iriz is dubbed to be a game-changer for the national carmaker. It was developed new from the ground up with the aim to be sold worldwide.

The Proton Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT comes with an upgraded CVT automatic transmission. Apart from that, it received a makeover and now looks much sportier with new body finishes such as a dual-tone body kit and a sporty refinement for the interior.

The design is upgraded to suit a more modern and stealthy atmosphere with an all-black trim and panels accompanied by black leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching as detailing finish. 

New backlit analogue gauges that are larger and more readable with clearer font type and a full-colour TFT-LCD multi-info display between them. 

The Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT seats are made of semi-leather upholstery, with the side bolsters and headrest being upholstered in leather, while the backrest and seat base are fabric. It has a thick inverted blue line striking through the middle accompanied with red stitching as a detailing finish.

Front occupants have no issues with space. However, the rear passenger may face a shortage of legroom, if there is a tall passenger in front who fully extended the seat.

There are 2 cup holders located in the centre console and 4 bottle holders with one on each side door panels. 

The Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT features one 12 volts power socket in the front and 3 USB ports, with 1 USB port in the front and 2 more in the back giving the occupants the flexibility to charge multiple devices at the same time.

With 215 litres of boot space, it can easily fit 3 to 4 pet carriers.

The Proton Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT stands at a length of 3,945 mm, the width of 1,722 mm, the height of 1,554 mm, with a wheelbase spanning 2,555 mm and weighs 1,178 kg.

The front of the Iriz comes with gloss black (instead of chrome) grille strip and an X50-aping lower grille surround, along with black plastic cladding and silver skid plates. The only Iriz model to feature the new LED headlights is the Active. 

The back exudes a sleek and simple layout with the rear bumper and black tailgate garnish from the 2019 facelift but the bumper strip is now red instead of chrome. It also comes with black plastic cladding and silver skid plates on the rear bumpers and side skirts. 

The headlamps are made of reflector halogen units that have auto headlamp function, joined together with the grille making the top half of the front a looking like a one-piece design.

The tail lamps are made of LED combination units with a gloss black strip joining the two together.

It is power adjusted and power folded with turn-indicators.

Equipped with 15-inch rotor blade design two-tone alloy wheels.

Passive safety includes six airbags consisting of front, side and curtain airbags. It also has ISOFIX, front and rear parking sensors, seat belt reminders and pre-tensioners, front and side impact beams and crash sensors. 

The Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT gets a 7-inch, Android based head unit with a 1024x600-pixel touchscreen, 16 GB of internal data, Bluetooth connectivity, and smartphone mirroring function. It also has 4G connectivity via an eSIM and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality. These features enable it to support online navigation, music streaming, apps, OTA updates and “Hi Proton '' voice command.

The Proton Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT is Powered by a 1.6-litre, naturally-aspirated in-line 4-cylinder 16 valve DOHC with VVT engine which produces 107 hp at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

The Proton Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT has a fuel consumption of 8.8 litres to 9.8 litres for every 100 km.

It has a good sound insulation, with improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) aspects. Along with its 3-point engine mounting to ensure a more refined driving experience with a quitter cabin.

In terms of looks, the Proton Iriz 1.6L Premium CVT will garner attention from the younger generation of drivers with its new and improved sporty and darkened interior and exterior design.
