The 2023 Jaguar F-Type 75 is Jaguar’s Final Iteration of its Sporty Icon
Amidst the strict environmental regulations, car manufacturers worldwide were prompted to venture into EVs in order to stay afloat. Stringent restrictions also have marked a potential extinction of an already endangered species – ICE sports cars.
Marking its 75th anniversary of sports cars, Jaguar has recently launched the all-new Jaguar F-Type 75, coming in both Coupe and Convertible figuration. And unfortunately, this F-Type might be the last iteration of its long-lived bloodline of performance sports cars, kick-started by the infamous XK120, some 75 years back.
Both the Coupe and Convertible F-Types will be made available in two variants, the F-Type 75 and F-Type R 75. A special, discreet badge marking the two different variants can be found on the front fenders – quite a telling job to differentiate both variants.
Aside from its all-aluminium muscular yet sleek façade, both cars now sport a special edition commemorative badging to mark the marque’s final cameo in ICE sports cars game. A ten-spoke 20-inch gloss black rims worthy of its sporting pedigree as well as quad tailpipes, both come standard across the two variants.
Whilst there’s not much change cosmetically, the same can’t be said performance-wise. Jaguar’s adaptive dynamic suspension system now comes standard for both 75 and R 75. Wheel bearings are now larger than before for smoother acceleration and a new active electronic rear differential gives drivers better traction control, especially on high-speed corners.
Powering both the 75 and R 75 is the 5.0 L supercharged V8 engine, fully-built by Jaguar in its state-of-the-art Wolverhampton plant. The baseline F-Type 75 outputs about 445 HP and maximum torque of 580 NM, with an all-wheel drive option available aside from the standard RWD. Thanks to all these performance upgrades, the 75’s 0 to 100 KMH time now clocks at around 4.5 seconds, with a maximum top speed of 285 KMH.
A step above the rest, the new F-Type R 75 boasts a whopping 567 HP and 700 NM of torque. The range-topper comes exclusively with an all-wheel drive configuration, which records a 3.5 seconds finish from 0 to 100 KMH and a limited v-max of 300 KMH.
The Jag’s sporty swansong is poised for an early 2023 delivery. Potential customers have to set aside around £78,330 (RM404,318) for the baseline F-Type 75 RWD Coupe version and £108,065 (RM557,802) for the range-topper F-Type R 75 Convertible.
As the F-Types cease production in years to come, the Briton marque’s EV-laden line-up will feature the F-Pace, E-Pace, XF and XE. Three all-electric crossovers are due to arrive by 2025, built on an entirely new platform with an asking price north of £100,000 (RM516,172).
