Mazda CX-60 SUV Debuts in Singapore – Malaysia Next?

Following its debut in the Philippines, the Mazda CX-60 SUV is making a second ASEAN market entry, this time in Singapore. Aside from being the second only country in ASEAN to get the CX-60, Singapore also becomes the first left-hand-driven (LHD) market in the region to get this midsize luxury SUV officially.
While the Filipino gets two all-wheel drive (AWD) variants powered by a 3.3-litre 6-cyl turbocharged e-Skyactiv G mill, the island republic will only get one variant of the CX-60, with a 2.5-litre 4-cyl nat-asp Skyactiv-G petrol mill hiding beneath its hood. Paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, this Skyactiv-G powertrain setup is rated at 189 HP and 261 NM, with all power sent to its rear wheels (RWD).

Mazda CX-60 SUV
Visually, the Singapore-spec CX-60 looks pretty much the same as both its Philippines and Japan counterparts. At the exterior, you’ll get standard kits like adaptive LED headlights that flank its massive front grille, while its rear part comes with full-LED taillights with lower rear bumper accents and quad tailpipes. This midsize SUV also rides on 20-inch wheels, finished in gunmetal grey hue.

As for the tech amenities, the CX-60 features a powered tailgate and panoramic sunroof, while the interior comes with a 12.3-inch central infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Drivers, on the other hand, will get a leather-wrapped steering wheel with multiple buttons and controls, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, as well as a head-up display (HUD).
Topping off the CX-60’s cabin amenities list are the full-leather upholstery for the seats and front dash, powered front seats, as well as a 12-speaker Bose sound system.

For safety, this SUV features a slew of advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), blind-spot monitor (BSM), front-and-rear cross traffic alert, and many more. This, plus the seven airbags and parking sensors, grants the CX-60 with a perfect ASEAN NCAP safety test score of five stars.

The CX-60 costs almost a million Ringgit in Singapore!
Available in eight colourways, the Mazda CX-60 SUV is priced at SGD 278,888 (RM958,551) inclusive of the mandatory Certificate of Entitlement (CoE) bidding fees – making it the most expensive model to be sold by Mazda Singapore. The only model that comes close to the CX-60’s price tag is the three-row Mazda CX-8, which is tagged at SGD 256,888 (RM882,675).

With the CX-60 already made its debut in two key ASEAN markets, it is only right for us to ask whether, or more aptly, when will Bermaz Motor – official distributor of Mazda brands in Malaysia – bring this midsize SUV into our local market. As for now, Bermaz has yet to release any statements pertaining to the CX-60.
As for its pricing, we can expect the Malaysian-bound CX-60 to be slightly more expensive or about the same price as the locally-assembled (CKD) CX-8, which is fair since the CX-60 has always been marketed as the slightly upmarket five-seater SUV from Mazda, which sits above the CX-5.
