- Bugatti Launches Line Of Sunglasses For The Filthy Rich
Bugatti has unveiled its first line of eyewear, In collaboration with optical designer Larry Sands.
37 statement pieces in nine different styles make up the collection.
The 37-piece nine-style set combines tradition and modernity with its various materials, including carbon fibre, 925 sterling silver, palladium, and Macassar ebony.
With the motto "If comparable, it is no longer Bugatti," which was inspired by Ettore Bugatti, Collection One aims to encapsulate and translate Bugatti's core values into upscale accessories that are desirable and opulent. For the top fashion houses and eyewear brands over the course of 60 years, Sands has shaped and created a wide variety of eyewear pieces and collections. It took two years to complete the Bugatti collection. Each piece is handcrafted in Japan from solid 925 sterling silver accented with 18k gold and palladium - the most expensive materials on the market.
The use of Positive Vapour Deposition (PVD) - a process in which a solid material is vaporised in a vacuum and deposited onto the surface of the product - is another significant breakthrough for the eyewear industry, which was first successfully used during the creation of Collection One. The PVD acts as a Diamond Like Coating, creating a highly resistant to wear surface that is also used in the development and production of Bugatti automobiles. Another design iteration that pays homage to Bugatti's automobiles is the use of carbon fibre and Macassar ebony. On each of the 37 examples, an intricate custom wirecore was developed in sheets to mirror the grill pattern that adorns the horseshoe radiator of each Bugatti hyper sports car.
Collection One debuted at the MIDO Optical Trade Show here on February 4 and will be available in select boutiques. Retail prices are from US$1,295 (approx 5600 MYR) to US$15,000 (approx 64, 700 MYR). Further information would be available soon at www.bugattieyewear.com.
