MBM expanded its local line-up today by introducing the new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV offering.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) officially launched arguably its most opulent electric vehicle (EV) offering to date in the form of the new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV earlier today. This is also the first Maybach-badged all-electric (EV) offering, which first debuted back in April 2023.

The model was shown today in both standard and Night Edition guises, the latter boasting even more opulent additions. Announced too were prices, which sees the former command RM1,088,888 whilst the higher-equipped latter starts from RM1.3 million instead.

If it’s not evidently apt, this is the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV model that’s been made even more luxurious. Speaking of, MBM first launched the EQS SUV in 580 4MATIC form back in Oct 2023 priced at RM699,888. It was then replaced by the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV in Aug 2024 that’s priced at RM625,888 instead.

Shown today were both the Maybach EQS SUV in standard (right) and Night Edition (left) forms.

At the heart of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is a sizeable 118 kWh battery pack that juices dual e-motors driving all four wheels with 658 HP and 950 NM. In turn, this setup enables this behemoth with a claimed kerb heft of 3,075 KG to dispatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 4.4 secs whilst enroute towards an electronically-capped 210 KM/H V-Max.

As for range, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV can cover between 560 KM to 608 KM (based on WLTP standards). As for charging, this EV SUV’s on-board charger (OBC) accepts both 22 kW AC and up to 200 kW DC inputs, the latter promising 10-80% re-charges in just 31 minutes too – full charges via the former takes 6 hours and 15 minutes instead.

On board, the Maybach EQS SUV packs a sizeable 118 kWh battery pack that promises up to 608 KM of range. Said pack also accepts 22 kW AC and 200 kW DC charging inputs.

Typical of any Mercedes-Maybach offering, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is instantly recognisable through its exterior’s rich use of chrome trims, oversized rolling stock, illuminated running boards, and Maybach emblems. Critically, this EV SUV is also infinitely customisable – from wheels to hand-applied two-tone paintwork, the choices here truly are limitless.

As if that wasn’t enough, the darker and pricier Night Edition ups the ante by swapping out its exterior’s chrome brightworks for blacked-out trims instead. This also gets matched with blacked-out wheels, a darker grille, and a darker cabin aesthetic to match. You could say that this is Mercedes-Maybach’s own rendition of the Rolls-Royce Black Badge aesthetics.

On board, this EV SUV uses the MBUX Hyperscreen with Maybach-specific start-up animations. It also boasts high-quality materials like sustainably processed leather, exquisite wood trims, and rose gold accents, as well as executive rear seats featuring ventilation, massage functions, and neck and shoulder heating.

Aptly, the rear highlight of Maybach EQS SUV is its rear seat area, which boasts executive rear seats offering ventilation and massage functions plus First Class Rear Specification and Chauffeur Package.

Bolstering on board comfort further are special insulation materials, acoustic glass, and a Disconnect Unit (DCU) that delivers whisper-quiet rides. The Burmester 4D surround audio suite primed delivers an immersive audio space, whereas Active Ambient Lighting and Maybach-exclusive fragrance (No. 12 Mood Ebony) all help to create a luxe atmosphere too.

Elswhere, Airmatic air suspension with continuously adjustable damping comes as standard equipment. This can raise the vehicle by 25 MM for increased ground clearance. Present too is a Rear-axle steering, and this enables up to 10 degrees of rear wheel steering angle to reduce turning circle by almost two metres.

Notably, ‘Maybach Mode’ is the default drive mode and, according MBM, this ensures that body movements experienced from the rear seats are kept to a minimum. This is possible through the use of an oscillation node primed beneath the rear seats that ensures amplitudes are at their lowest to offer the best possible passenger comfort.

Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather is the choice upholstery used, and it gets matched with Manufaktur brown open-pore walnut wood trim options. Additionally, rear passengers also benefit with a Chauffeur Package that automatically moves the front seat forwards when the passenger-side rear occupant reclines their seat.

Primed too is a First Class Rear specification, and this brings a centre console that continues from the front runs between the rear seats. Primed here too are kit as seen in the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, namely the thermal cupholders and a shelf for the MBUX rear seat tablet. Present too are four fast-charging USB ports, as well as two HDMI interfaces.

Lastly, customers can customise the exterior and interior of the new Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV via MBM’s online car configurator that’s accessible by clicking these blue words…
