- smart #5 EV Debuts This Nov 15 – Bookings Opened, Price Under RM200K?

The much-anticipated smart #5 EV SUV is slated to make its local debut later in Nov 15. Will it be priced under RM200,000?
Following its booking commencement last month, smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) has now announced the launch date for its latest model, the much-anticipated smart #5. This large EV SUV is set to make its local debut later this week on Nov 15, as per the announcement made on smart Malaysia’s official Facebook page.

First previewed in Malaysia during this year’s Malaysia Autoshow (MAS 2025) and again to local press back in Aug this year, the #5 is positioned as the brand’s biggest model to date.
As mentioned earlier, bookings for the new #5 have already been opened since late last month, with a booking fee of RM2,000. This can be made either directly at any authorised smart Malaysia dealership outlets nationwide or online via both smart Malaysia’s official website and the Hello smart mobile app.

In its official release, smart Malaysia mentions both the Premium and Brabus performance range-topping variants specifically being opened for bookings, with no mention of the baseline Pro variant for now.

As a refresher, both the smart #5 Premium and Brabus share the same 100 kWh NMC-type battery pack that supports both 22 kW AC and 400 kW DC charging inputs, with the latter method promising 10-80% re-charges in just 20 minutes.

On the powertrain front, the #5 Premium is powered by a single rear e-motor and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup rated at 358 hp and 373 Nm. This guise also promises a claimed maximum WLTP-rated range of 590 km.

As for the Brabus performance range-topper, it packs a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup instead, with 637 hp and 710 Nm available. This variant promises 0-100 km/h sprints in just 3.8 secs, plus a 200 km/h V-Max and a WLTP-rated max range of 540 km.

Apart from the confirmed launch date, smart Malaysia has kept its mouth shut regarding the estimated prices for the upcoming smart #5. Should they manage to keep its price around or even below the RM200,000 mark, the #5 will pose a great challenge against other popular midsize EV SUVs like the Xpeng G6, BYD Sealion 7, Zeekr 7X, and the Tesla Model Y.
