Renowned Italian sportscar marque Maserati has released a new set of photos and details for its upcoming 2023 Maserati GranTurismo model. The range will consist of three variants, those being the V6 turbo-powered Modena and Trofeo, followed by an all-electric Folgore (“Lightning” in Italian) next to them.
While the new GranTurismo shares a similar design as its outgoing predecessor, both models actually don’t share any common body panels. Retained though is its signature silhouette formed by the long hood up front, compact cabin mid-section, and short rear end plus low ride height. One key change here is of course the new vertical headlights design a la the new MC20 midship supercar.

One key standout styling feature is the new “Cofango” unified design part which sees the hood and the front fenders combined to form a single element. This also sees the cut line moved from the hood top to the vehicle’s side before cutting into the wheel wells.
A total of six exterior colour choices will be offered, as well as a further seven hue choices for the brake calipers alone. Apart from that, the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation program offers customers even more options beyond the standard colours range mentioned too.
The combination of four designs with various finishes are available, not forgetting seven different wheel designs too. Speaking of which, all variants roll on staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels, though the electrified Folgore gets a special with an aerodynamic design that cuts drag by 7%. Also unique to the Folgore is the air inlet placed between the bumper and wheel arch that serves to reduce wind noise.

Visually, each variant sports different trim and badging colours to set themselves apart too. Highlights include glossy black accents, grille inserts, splitters, door handles, and DLO trim for the Folgore; followed by dark copper-finished badges and trident logo. The Trofeo, on the other hand, gets racy carbon-fibre accents and side skirts with gloss-black grille slats instead; as well as badge and logo treated in brushed chrome and red outline. As for the Modena, it sports chrome outlining its black grille and gloss black slats, as well as gloss black badges, window trim, exhaust tips, and Trident badge.

As reported previously, the new 2023 Maserati GranTurismo adopts the famed trident marque’s new Nettuno 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo powerplant derived from the MC20 sportscar. This wet-sump type mill primed with cylinder-deactivation powers the Modena and Trofeo variants specifically, and it’s paired with a rear-biased all-wheel drive setup – a first for the Maserati GranTurismo line.
In the Modena, the mill outputs 489 HP and 600 NM, whereas the Trofeo gets a peppier state of tune to deliver 550 HP and a meatier 650 NM. As for performance, the Modena dispatches nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.9 seconds whilst the Trofeo slotted above it does the same in a slightly quicker time of 3.5 seconds. Additionally, both share the same electronically-governed V-max of 302 KM/H as well.

Moving on to the all-electric Folgore variant and, as reported, it employs a tri-motor setup that drives all four wheels with 750 HP and 1,350 NM. This variant, which features an 800-volt architecture, sees its tri-motor driveline draw power from a 92.5 kWh, T-bone-shaped battery pack that’s placed in the center of the vehicle. Additionally, the setup can discharge 100% of its available power to the rear axle too.
Maserati confirmed that the new 2023 Maserati GranTurismo Modena and Trofeo duo will go on sale first starting from the second quarter of next year. Sales of the electric Folgore will commence shortly after which, though no specific dates were given. On top of this, an open-top GranCabrio convertible version will also launch within 2023 featuring both combustion and electric powertrains.
