BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV Now Open for Booking – RM1,000 Booking Fee

Order books for the previously-teased BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV have now been opened. Launching soon?
Following its teaser last week, BYD Malaysia has officially opened the order books for its upcoming EV SUV model, the BYD Sealion 7. This was confirmed via BYD Cars Malaysia’s official Facebook page, although no official launch dates were disclosed by the automaker for now.

Positioned as BYD’s midsize (D-segment) coupe EV SUV, the Sealion 7 measures 4,830 MM long, 1,925 MM wide, 1,620 MM tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,930 MM. This makes the Sealion 7 compatible with other midsize EV SUVs on sale in our market, such as the Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G6, and Leapmotor C10, to name a few.
While BYD Malaysia has yet to confirm the detailed specifications for the local-spec Sealion 7, both the Euro and Chinese-spec Sealion 7 underpin the same BYD e-Platform 3.0 Evo as the recently-updated BYD Seal, featuring a cell-to-body (CTB) technology with an 800-volt battery architecture.
The Chinese-spec model is offered with either a 71.8-kWh or an 80.64-kWh LFP battery, with the latter offering a maximum EV range of up to 610 KM, according to the lenient CLTC standard at least.

Powertrain-wise, the Sea Lion 07 is offered with three powertrain options, with the two rear-wheel-driven (RWD) models featuring outputs of up to 228 HP (170 kW) and 308 HP (230 kW), respectively. Meanwhile, the top-spec dual-motor AWD model gets the highest total system output of up to 523 HP (390 kW), allowing a century sprint time of only 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 214 KM/H.

Bookings for the all-new BYD Sealion 7 now can be made via BYD Malaysia’s official website at a booking fee of RM1,000. Given that its saloon twin, the BYD Seal, currently retails from RM163,800 and RM199,800, we can expect the Sealion 7 to be priced slightly higher than that, thus making it on par with its aforementioned rivals.
