Ops Selamat 24: 7,000 Officers, 500 Hotspots Identified for Aidilfitri Safe Travel
Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri has detailed that 6,957 traffic personnel will be on duty for Ops Selamat 24 during upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri, from March 29 to April 3.
The operation, led by Bukit Aman's JSPT division, aims to ensure road safety and smooth traffic flow as Malaysians return to their hometowns for the festive season. According to him further - 871 officers and 6,086 rank-and-file personnel will be deployed.
JSPT will focus on key areas which include 25 hotspots and 46 blackspots on major highways nationwide, where continuous monitoring will be in place to assist road users facing breakdowns or emergencies.
Additionally, 407 hotspots and 76 blackspots have been identified across federal, state, and municipal roads to enhance travel safety.
Op Selamat 24 will adopt the theme - “Rumah Selamat, Selamat Sampai Ke Destinasi,” with focus placed on home security and road safety. Similar to previous years, authorities will maintain an enforcement-based approach, encouraging responsible driving through advocacy programmes and public awareness campaigns.
Alongside Ops Selamat 24, JSPT will also launch Ops Lancar which runs until April 6, to manage traffic congestion. Ops Lancar will see close monitoring of vehicle movement, with aerial surveillance support from the Royal Malaysia Police Air Operations Force to ensure smoother travel.
Road users are also urged to adhere to traffic regulations and cooperate with on-duty personnel. Yusri further advised road users to get ample rest before long journeys and ensure their vehicles are in good operating condition.
