Porsche Macan Reaches 1-Million-Unit Production Milestone

Porsche has just built its one millionth Macan SUV since its inception more than a decade ago.
Since its inception more than a decade ago, the Porsche Macan has become quite popular, especially with younger buyers who wanted a Porsche SUV but in a more compact and sportier form than the Cayenne. 12 years on, Porsche has just reached the coveted one-million-unit milestone for the Macan, making the compact SUV one of their best-sellers in recent years.
For context, it took Porsche 54 years to build one million 911 sportscars, and 18 years for the Cayenne SUV to get to one million, making the Macan the quickest Porsche model to hit the seven-figure mark but also their third-ever model to hit the milestone.

And just like the first unit ever, the one millionth Macan SUV also rolled off Porsche’s Leipzig plant in Germany, which is specifically the new Macan 4 Electric finished in Frozen Blue Metallic. Said unit is then delivered to its customer in Germany, before undergoing a series of photoshoots and commemorative send-offs.

Throughout its 12-year stint, the Macan has undergone two generations of change, including two facelifts for the first-gen model. The second-gen model, which was launched last year, is only available in a full electric version for now, with the production of the ICE version set to end soon alongside the 718 sportscar.

Despite only entering production last year, the new Macan Electric proved to be an instant hit among many buyers, as it already accounts for 57% of the global Macan sales in the first half of 2025 (1H 2025), although that’s probably because Porsche no longer sells the ICE Macan in Europe.

That being said, the ICE Macan is still on sale in several overseas markets, and while their European production is about to stop sometime later in the future, the SUV is still in production in certain markets like the US due to strong demand.

Closer to home, the Porsche Macan Electric is available in four variants for the Malaysian market, with prices starting from RM430,000 onwards for the base Macan, followed by the Macan 4 and Macan 4 S priced from RM445,000 and RM525,000 onwards, respectively. Last but not least, the Macan Turbo caps the lineup off with its RM635,000 starting price.
As for the ICE-powered Macan, only the Macan T is listed on Porsche Malaysia’s official website, with no price indications given.
