MINI Aceman

The 2025 MINI Aceman is a five-door electric crossover that concentrates MINI's go-kart character into a zero-emission package. Its Malaysian range covers distinct outputs and batteries, so buyers can prioritise price, range or performance without confusing it with the Aceman or Countryman Electric.

Inside, a knitted textile dashboard and 240 mm circular OLED running MINI Operating System 9. Physical controls are deliberately reduced, but the key driving functions stay on the toggle bar.

The centre is organised around the slim toggle bar groups the gear selector, start key, parking brake and Experience Modes. The open layout frees useful storage underneath instead of using a bulky transmission tunnel.

Rather than a separate binnacle, the central 240 mm OLED combines instruments, navigation and infotainment, supplemented by a head-up display on selected grades. Essential speed and assistance data remain in the driver's eyeline.

Occupants get sport front seats in Vescin or recycled textile, with electric adjustment and heating on higher specifications. The low driving position and generous adjustment suit the model's sporting brief.

Cabin practicality is five usable seats, with notably easier rear access and more knee room than the MINI Electric. This is clearly the intimate MINI EV, not a substitute for the larger Aceman or Countryman Electric.

The driver uses a compact multifunction wheel for cruise, audio, voice and driver-assistance functions. The compact rim and direct rack help the car feel alert around town.

Everyday items fit into large door bins, an open centre tray, glovebox and 60:40 folding rear bench. There is no large traditional centre armrest bin, so organisation is best for smaller belongings.

Drink storage consists of two front cupholders plus rear door bottle holders. The arrangement is adequate for two front occupants but limited for rear passengers.

Device power is handled by front and rear USB-C ports and a wireless phone charging tray on equipped versions. Cable-free phone charging integrates neatly with the circular-display interface.

Cabin execution features robust lower-cabin plastics are offset by distinctive textile trim and solid MINI switchgear. The woven dash surface is distinctive, though the sparse layout depends heavily on the central screen.

Luggage capacity is 300 litres with all seats raised and up to about 1,005 litres when the rear backrests are folded. The load lip is manageable, but this remains weekend-bag rather than family-holiday space.

At 4,079 mm long, 1,754 mm wide and 1,514 mm tall, with a 2,606 mm wheelbase, the MINI Aceman stays genuinely compact for dense Malaysian streets and parking bays. The short wheelbase also explains its nimble response and modest rear cabin.

The front is defined by a closed octagonal grille, angular LED headlamps and a short clamshell bonnet. It looks cleaner than the outgoing hatch yet remains instantly recognisable as a MINI.

At the back, upright tailgate, configurable Matrix LED lamps and protective lower cladding keep the design crisp. The upright hatch maximises the limited footprint.

The MINI Aceman uses adaptive LED headlamps with selectable signatures on higher grades. Automatic high beam is linked to the driver-assistance package.

Rear lighting comes from triangular Matrix LED units with three selectable graphics. The animated graphics reinforce the car's digital theme without changing its compact proportions.

The car carries power-folding, heated door mirrors with integrated indicators. Their housings sit proud of the body, so the folding function is useful in narrow parking spaces.

Stopping hardware combines four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, stability control and selectable energy recuperation. Pedal feel blends energy recovery with the friction brakes, while selectable regeneration helps urban efficiency.

Malaysian cars use 17- to 19-inch alloy wheels; larger JCW-style rims reduce some range and compliance. Larger rims sharpen the stance but trade some ride compliance and range.

Core active-safety hardware includes ABS/EBD, stability and traction control, tyre-pressure monitoring and regenerative brake control. These systems operate alongside regenerative braking rather than replacing driver attention.

Passive protection comprises multiple airbags, ISOFIX outer rear mounts and a reinforced battery safety structure. The compact rear bench is best suited to two occupants and includes proper child-seat anchors.

Core, Green, Go-Kart and Personal Experience Modes coordinate throttle, graphics, lighting and sound. Each mode changes more than throttle response, also reshaping the OLED theme and cabin soundscape.

Infotainment runs MINI OS 9 with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the 240 mm OLED. The round OLED is unusually sharp and responsive, and it also hosts climate and vehicle settings.

AEB, lane-departure warning, speed-limit information and parking sensors are offered, while higher packs add adaptive cruise, lane centring and Parking Assistant Plus. Exact availability must be matched to the Malaysian variant rather than assumed across the range.

Sound is model-specific: upper Malaysian grades use a 12-speaker, 365-watt Harman Kardon surround system; the standard system output is not published as one common figure for both variants. This is materially different from quoting a generic unbranded speaker setup.

Aceman E uses a 135 kW (181 hp), 290 Nm front motor, while Aceman SE delivers 160 kW (215 hp) and 330 Nm. These figures keep the three MINI Electric versions clearly separated.

Drive reaches the wheels through single-speed reduction gearing sends torque without shift interruptions. Immediate torque makes the car feel brisk in stop-start traffic.

The layout is front-wheel drive, with the traction battery mounted beneath the floor. It preserves familiar MINI handling while avoiding the weight and complexity of all-wheel drive.

Claimed acceleration is version-specific: 0-100 km/h is approximately 7.9 seconds for Aceman E and 7.1 seconds for Aceman SE. The JCW is meaningfully quicker, not merely a styling package.

Energy use and range centre on the E uses a 42.5 kWh gross battery for about 310 km WLTP; the SE's 54.2 kWh pack reaches roughly 406 km WLTP. Real Malaysian motorway range will fall with speed, heat, passengers and aggressive climate use.

Daily-use features include Comfort Access, app-linked charging, scheduled charging and remote climate pre-conditioning. Charging scheduling can take advantage of off-peak electricity, while pre-conditioning preserves cabin comfort before departure.

dedicated rear centre air vents help cool the second row in Malaysia's climate. In hot weather, directing the outer front vents rearward helps cool the compact cabin more quickly.

Ride character reflects the sporty chassis: more compliant than the three-door MINI Electric, yet still controlled; 19-inch wheels transmit sharper edges. The E and SE on smaller wheels are the more forgiving choices.

silent propulsion and good wind sealing make it calm, with tyre noise most evident on coarse surfaces. Wind sealing is good for a small frameless-door hatch, but the quiet powertrain exposes surface noise that an engine would mask.

The 2025 MINI Aceman bridges the MINI Electric and Countryman Electric with five-door practicality and up to about 406 km WLTP range. The SE is the stronger all-rounder, while the E suits mainly urban duty.
