Deepal S07 Secures ANCAP 5-Star Rating Ahead of Malaysian Launch

The Deepal S07 EV SUV, recently previewed to Malaysian media and set for launch sometime in the second quarter (Q2) by Bermaz Auto, earned a coveted 5-star rating under the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

It achieved an impressive 95% scoring for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), ranking among the safest vehicles tested under 2023-2025 ANCAP protocols.

The S07’s crash performance was outstanding, with near-perfect scores for driver protection in side impact and oblique pole crashes. In frontal offset tests, the passenger compartment remained stable, ensuring high occupant safety.

The vehicle’s front structure showed strong crash compatibility, incurring only a minor 0.86-point deduction (out of 8.00), indicating a low injury risk for occupants of opposing vehicles.

For Child Occupant Protection, the Deepal S07 secured an 86% score, excelling in frontal offset and side impact tests. ISOFix anchorages and top tether points ensure secure child restraint installation.

Post-crash safety was another highlight. Retractable door handles extend after a crash, doors remain operable even after power loss and windows stay functional after submersion, aiding occupant rescue.

In Vulnerable Road User Protection, the Deepal S07 scored 74%. The bonnet and windscreen provided adequate head protection for pedestrians, though the stiff A-pillars resulted in some points deduction.

As for the S07’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system, it performed well in detecting cyclists and reversing scenarios. However, results were mixed in forward pedestrian detection, particularly in low-light or complex urban settings.

The SUV also achieved a 78% Safety Assist score, for offering AEB feature that is able to detect cars, pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. While effective, the AEB Crossing function, designed for detecting vehicles at intersections only received a marginal rating.

In addition to all the above, electronic aids such as Lane support systems which include Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), further enhance safety.

With a top-tier safety rating and advanced driver assistance technologies, the Deepal S07 does indeed stand out as a solid, high-tech and safe choice for the Malaysian buyers in the C-segment range alongside other notable offerings such as the Tesla Model Y, XPeng G6, BYD Sealion 7 and Leapmotor C10.
