Report: Mercedes-Benz Plans 21 New Models For The Next Two Years
The three-point star marque looks set to ramp up its efforts and launch 21 new models over the course of the next 24 months, reports Autocar UK.
The next 24 months are set to be exceptionally busy for German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz. According to a recent report by Autocar UK, the three-point star will introduce no less than 21 new models over the next two years.
The effort includes over a dozen new models plus eight model refreshes (facelifts), not forgetting two brand new concepts too. The push comes from the automaker’s renewed bid to stabilise global production and sales across several key markets.
Central to this mass new model roll-out is the second phase of the Mercedes-Benz EQ electric strategy, in which Mercedes-Benz seek to execute whilst balancing the introduction of revised and updated combustion (ICE) models – new-generation mild- (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrains included.
Things will kick off this year with the new MMA-based third-gen CLA compact saloon in both EV and ICE guises.
A third MMA-based model will also debut this year as the successor to the GLB crossover SUV. Like the CLA, both EV and ICE versions will be readied.
Predictably, the slew of new 2025 models will start with the debut of the third-generation CLA compact saloon. Set for debut sometime next month as the three-point star’s most efficient EV to date, this will also be the first of six new compact models underpinning the marque’s new Modular Mercedes Architecture (MMA).
Following said EV version, a combustion (ICE)-powered variant of the new CLA is expected to launch six months after. This, as reported prior, will harness new 1.5-litre 4-cyl petrol mills – reportedly supplied by Horse Powertrain – augmented by small e-motors in the transmission to deliver up to 188 HP outputs and “diesel-levels of efficiency”.
Next, a third MMA-based model planned for debut this year is the new GLB, and the three-point star marque promises this will be a “massive step up” from the current first-gen model. Like the new CLA detailed, the new GLB will also see both ICE and EV versions available, with Autocar UK hinting that the model will also increase in size and footprint over its predecessor.
Another critical 2025 debutant will be the electric offshoot of the second-gen GLC crossover SUV featuring a new 800-volt base. (Note: Current-gen GLC 350e PHEV model pictured).
Another key 2025 debutant is the electric version of the second-gen GLC crossover, and this will stand as the follow up to the marque’s first production EV that was the EQC. Set to rival the Audi Q6 e-tron, Porsche Macan and BMW iX3, the electric GLC is expected to harness an 800-volt platform base as well.
Critically, said new 800-volt base mentioned will be shared with the electric C-Class planned for 2026. Single- and dual-motor with rear- and all-wheel-drive setups will be offered, along with the choice between LFP- and NMC-type battery packs that reportedly promise around 644 KM and 805 KM range respectively as well.
Also critical, albeit not on the production models side, is the debut of a brand new concept from Mercedes-AMG. Insiders hint that it will not be too dissimilar from the One-Eleven concept pictured, which debuted back in 2023.
Arguably the biggest revelation for this year from the marque will be a brand new concept from its Mercedes-AMG performance arm. Tipped for debut sometime in the middle of this year, this concept will demonstrate the three-lettered performance sub-brand’s future electric performance capabilities.
“It will be the fastest-accelerating car AMG has ever produced,” said a source quoted by Autocar UK regarding the new concept form Mercedes-AMG. It adds that insiders have hinted the concept will not be too dissimilar from the striking One-Eleven concept from 2023, with its showcase set to include the brand’s axial-flux e-motor tech, and more.
Mercedes-Benz will then start 2026 off with a revised iteration of its current-gen S-Class flagship. This is set to remain on sale until 2030 at least.
Also set for 2026 debuts are the revised EQS Saloon and EQS SUV duo, followed by the smaller EQE Saloon and EQE SUV pair.
Moving into 2026, the same report indicates that the refreshed S-Class flagship will be first to debut here – the nameplate is poised to remain on sale until 2030 at least before a more advanced successor bows. A slew of key tech like the MBUX Superscreen display, MB:OS software and Level 3 Autonomous Driving are set to enhance the model’s digital experience too.
Thil will then be followed up with the revelation of a comprehensively re-engineered version of the EQS flagship EV saloon. Though set to share the same ‘S-Class’ nameplate, both the refreshed S-Class and EQS won’t share the same platform as the latter is poised to underpin the MB:EA Large platform, whereas the former will base itself on the existing MRA architecture.
Other key 2026 models set to be revealed include an electric C-Class, refreshed EQS SUV, refreshed EQE saloon and EQE SUV, as well as the uprated GLE and GLS large SUVs duo. Lastly, 2026 will be capped by the debut of the first dedicated Mercedes-AMG electric model that's set to rival against the Lotus Emeya and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
