One of the largest - literally - new metal to debut at Auto Shanghai 2025, the Zeekr 9X is also positioned as a new flagship, full-sized SUV from the Geely-owned brand.
Amongst the debutants we chanced upon sighting during Press Day of Auto Shanghai 2025 today, the new Zeekr 9X easily stands as the biggest of this lot – literally speaking. Presented as a new flagship full-sized SUV, the Zeekr 9X introduces a new design language for the Geely-owned brand too.
With its exterior design, the Zeekr 9X matches its gargantuan size with plenty of muscular touches all around. The company describes it as embodying a “majestic without being intimidating” style.
Up front, the Zeekr 9X dons a distinct and massive chrome grille with prominent vertical bars.
Other notable design touches include the special C-pillar trim, as well as straight, clean lines in its side profile.
The front fascia features a large grille with prominent vertical chrome bars, whilst its side profile is characterised by straight, clean lines. At the rear, the Zeekr 9X sports a distinct “Ring Screen Star Diamond” through-type taillight assembly containing 43,343 individual diamond-cut facets.
Beyond aesthetics, the Zeekr 9X is also set to showcase significant tech advancements by being the brand’s first to feature the G-Pilot intelligent driving solution. This system is built upon Zeekr’s Level 3 autonomous driving architecture and utilises the ZEEA 3.0 central computing digital architecture, which reportedly improves end-to-end communication response speed by 50%
Besides a new aesthetic design direction, the Zeekr 9X also reportedly set to employ advanced sensor suite powered by five LiDAR sensors.
Elsehwere, the Zeekr 9X will also employ an advanced sensor suite comprised of five LiDAR sensor units – one long-range LiDAR and four supplementary short-range LiDARs for blind-spot coverage. In turn, this is reportedly set to enable what Zeekr dubs as “four layers of 360-degree perception capabilities.”
AS for powertrain, the Zeekr 9X is also reportedly poised to debut a new “Super Electric Hybrid” powertrain tech. Aiming to merge the respective advantages of pure electric (BEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and range-extender (EREV) technologies, it promises “disruptive innovation in performance, efficiency, and overall driving experience,” claims Zeekr.
Under the hood, the Zeekr 9X is reportedly set to debut a new "Super Electric Hybrid" powertrain.
Details for said new powertrain are still scant presently, but Zeekr did claim that the new 9X will be able to despatch the century sprint in the three-second range. In other words, this novel new propulsion system promises seriously potent outputs and speed too.
Moreover, the Zeekr 9X is poised to go on sale starting in its home market of China later this year where sources widely tout an estimated starting price of around RMB500,000 – approx. RM301,239. We’ll have more details once we have them.
UPDATE:
We've finally acquired technical details for the Zeekr 9X and there are some large and impressive figures to note here. We'll start with footprint, an the Zeekr 9X is indeed a mammoth sitting some 5,239 MM long with a 3,169 MM wheelbase, 2,029 MM wide, and 1,819 MM tall. The grille alone actually measures 1,245 MM wide whilst each forged wheels measures 22 inches too. From which, perhaps it is unsurprising to note then that the Zeekr 9X will see three rows of seats available on board.
Mechanically, the Zeekr 9X is set to harness a unique hybrid setup comprised of a 2.0-litre turbo petrol mill, as well as a pair of e-motors (one over each axle) juiced by a CATL Xiaoyao battery pack, both forming a 900-volt electrical architecture with 6C charging abilities. This setup reportedly puts out a combined output of 898 PS, and all are transmitted to all four wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission.
Altogether, this enables the Zeekr 9X to despatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in 3 secs before hitting a claimed 240 KM/H V-max.
