New Mercedes-Benz GLC EV Bows With 700 KM Range
You’ve seen the bold and enormous lit-up grille, as well as the interior and the equally massive 39.3-inch wide MBUX Hyperscreen touschreen dash. Now, the new and fully electric Mercedes-Benz GLC EV has finally been revealed.
Officially called the Mercedes-Benz GLC With EQ Technology, the model bowed first during the three-point star’s exclusive press preview last night (Sunday) ahead of this week’s IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich, Germany.
Set to rival the Neue Klasse-based new second-gen BMW iX3, the new GLC EV also effectively succeeds the existing EQC model. It will be marketed side-by-side with the existing combustion (ICE)-powered GLC model – the brand’s current best-seller.

Unveiled ahead of IAA Mobility 2025 happening this week is the new Mercedes-Benz GLC With EQ Technology, and it's slated for market entry early next year (2026).

Despite the shared title and general design as said combustion (ICE) GLC model, this new EV offshoot uses a different platform altogether. More specifically, the new GLC EV underpins the MB.EA bespoke EV platform with an 800-volt architecture.
“If you were told this was the next-gen combustion GLC, you would say ‘yes, it’s the next logical step: it looks like a GLC’,” proclaims CEO Ola Källenius as he presented to model last night. Certainly, we reckon many observers would agree too.
Both the wheelbase and total length has been stretched by 80 MM and 100 MM respectively.

The stretched size does result in the EV offshoot of Mercedes-Benz's best-selling crossover offering a sizeable 570-litre boot and 128-litre frunk.

As teased prior, the new GLC EV rocks a new electric-only ‘Iconic Grille’ that’s both larger and more upright than the brand’s past EVs. In terms of footprint, the GLC EV has also been stretched by 80 MM in its wheelbase and 100 MM in total length.
As a result, the new GLC EV brings more legroom both up front and at the back, increased headroom, along with a 570-litre boot and sizeable 128-litre frunk. In other words, the new GLC EV promises more space, comfort and practicality.
A total of five output levels will be offered, peaking at 483 HP in the GLC 400 EQ which features a dual-motor, AWD setup.

The GLC EV will see a selection of five output levels offered, with a GLC 400 EQ guise capping things off with up to 483 HP from a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. Both the front and rear e-motors are new, and the former can disconnect when not required.
Primed too is a two-speed transmission featuring gears with 11:1 and 5:1 ratios that maximises acceleration and efficiency. “A rear bias powertrain is desirable for any car that is somewhat focused on performance, and you get that for free with an EV,” claims brand CEO Källenius further.
Juicing said driveline is a sizeable 94 kWh NMC-type battery pack. Besides a claimed max range of up to 700 KM, this pack can draw in up to 330 kW of DC fast-charging inputs, thus allowing it gain up to 303 KM of range with just 10 minutes of charging.
Underneath, the new GLC EV rides on a new multi-link front and rear suspension setup. Both air suspension and rear-wheel-steering are also optionally available.

Other highlights present include a multi-link front and rear suspension setup with optional air suspension and rear-wheel-steering (RWS) suites, new ‘one-box’ brake system that merges energy ‘regen’ and friction braking into a single system with four selectable levels and ability to recuperate around 300 kW.
Moving to the cabin and Mercedes says the intent here was to fuse “analogue luxury” with “digital elegance”. Whilst the actual ‘elegance’ of a massive touchscreen in the dash is questionable, the good news is that this feature is optional.
With that, expect smaller – read: ’normal’ size screens – in lower end-variants. That aside, the cabin also boasts an optional Vegan Package that claims to be the first where all the soft-touch trims are certified by the Vegan Society.

Otherwise, typical of the three-point star, expect a barrage of driver assistance (ADAS) features to be primed. Included amongst which here is a ‘transparent bonnet' function designed for off-road use.
Mercedes is expected to release more details of the other GLC EV variants soon enough. As for production, the marque has earmarked its main Bremen plant plus additional lines in both Hungary and China for the GLC EV.
Lastly, sales are slated to commence early next year (2026) where prices will also be announced.
