Proton Saga Heading To Neighbouring Philippines In 2026 As a Geely Offering

Though still fresh in our market following its launch last month, we can now report that the 2026 Proton Saga has at least one confirmed export market in line.

It looks like the new fourth generation Proton Saga has at least one confirmed export market come the new year, though it won’t be sold there with the Malaysian marque’s badge.

Instead, partners Geely are reportedly set to adopt and rebadge the Saga as its budding B-segment saloon fighter in neighbouring Philippines. Moreover, this means we’ll also see a left-hand-drive (LHD) version of the latest-gen Saga too.

According to Autocar Philippines, the title's report cited a product presentation shown by Geely Philippines during a recent press conference, the Geely-rebadged Saga is set to enter said market sometime in the final quarter (Q4) of 2026.

What’s unclear still is if the Geely-badged Saga will retain its ‘Saga’ name – chances are, the Chinese automaker could christen it with an all-new name to match its new badge too. We’ll have to wait a little and see how this pans out.

We'll remind you that the previous-gen Saga (MC2) was already developed and exported in LHD form - it shouldn't take long or much for P1 to adapt the latest Saga (MC3) in similar fashion.

We’ll remind you that the previous-gen Saga (MC2) was already exported and later localised (CKD) in LHD form for markets like Egypt. With the latest-gen Saga sharing similar bones, it shouldn’t take long or much for P1 to develop a LHD version for sure.

As a refresher, the 2026 Proton Saga that launched locally last month rides on a heavily updated iteration of the AMA (Advanced Modular Architecture) platform housing highly improved electrical and electronics (E&E) architecture plus a brand-new powertrain.

The latter comes from Geely in the form of its latest-gen ‘i-GT’ 4-cyl petrol mill which, minus direct injection or turbocharging in the Saga, puts out 120 PS and 150 Nm. Drive goes to the front wheels either through a 4-speed automatic or CVT automatic transmission choices.

In its highest-spec guise, the Saga brings the combination of core basics like six airbags lining its cabin plus Level 1 ADAS features, earning it a 4-star ASEAN NCAP crash-test rating too.

As a reference, the 2026 Proton Saga MC3 launched last month with a ceiling price of RM49,990.

Once it enters the Philippines, the Geely-badged Saga will go up against key rivals like the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 and Toyota Vios which are priced from PHP793,000 (approx. RM55,119) and RM738,000 (approx. RM51,296) respectively there.

For reference, the Saga was launched locally with RRPs of RM38,990 (Standard AT), RM44,990 (Executive AT) and RM49,990 (Premium CVT) excluding rebates.
