Chery Tiggo Cross Launched in Indonesia - Malaysia Next?

PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) officially unveiled the facelifted Chery Tiggo Cross at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025 this week
This stylish SUV offers an impressive mix of captivating design, comprehensive safety features, driving comfort and competitively priced. Two variants are offered - Comfort at Rp239,500,000 (RM72,000) and Premium at Rp269,500,000 (RM81,000). These prices apply to the first 1,000 customers.
The Tiggo Cross inherits the “Tiger” DNA styling - symbolizing strength and resilience. The SUV features bold contours and tiger-claw-inspired headlights, adding to its aggressive, dynamic look.

The Premium variant comes equipped with 15 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features and six airbags. Meanwhile, the Comfort variant has four airbags. Both variants include Intelligent Online Vehicle (IOV) technology for remote vehicle monitoring via smartphones. Two 10.25-inch digital screens enhance driving comfort by acting as the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The Tiggo Cross, technically is a facelifted version of the Tiggo 5X that launched in Indonesia in June 2024. This same pre-facelift version was previewed to Malaysian consumers back in Oct 2022 under the name Tiggo 4 Pro during a Chery product showcase prior to its eventual establishment here.

Although Chery Malaysia initially teased the Tiggo 4 Pro, the company prioritised larger models and focused on setting up its local assembly (CKD) lines both in Kulim and Shah Alam.
This year, however, Chery Malaysia could be on track to launch the Tiggo 4 Pro, possibly under the Tiggo Cross nameplate as it did in Indonesia, alongside a slew of other xEV models.

This comes as Chery Malaysia has already solidified its presence in the C-segment with the Tiggo 7 and Jaecoo J7. By launching the Tiggo 4, Chery will strengthen its B-segment SUV foothold alongside its popular Omoda 5 to take on other popular offerings in the space - Proton X50, Perodua Ativa, Honda HR-V, WR-V, and Toyota Corolla Cross.

A launch price of around RM80,000 seems realistic given its competitors’ price range of RM75,000 to RM89,900. It would definitely be a bonus should Chery be able to price it lower and position itself as the most affordable B-segment SUV bettering our national brands.

Chery’s growth in Southeast Asia has been bolstered by its WCWL - Chery Owners Club Program, which fosters community engagement among Chery vehicle owners. This approach has helped build loyalty and maintain a strong customer base which is not practised by many other brands including the likes of Proton and Perodua.
With the Tiggo Cross now launched in Indonesia with promising plans for Malaysia, Chery is strengthening its position as a major player in Southeast Asia’s SUV market. Could the Tiggo 4 Pro be Chery’s most affordable B-segment SUV yet?
